Remix Contest 02 deadline is extended through June 1, 2012

April 12th, 2012

Hello all,

Due to a rather untimely hardware crash (is there ever such a thing as a timely one?), Remix Contest 02 will be extended through June 1, 2012.  Unfortunately, we did not have a backup of the hard drive & lost a large chunk of the remix submissions.

If you have already submitted a remix, please submit it again.  You are welcome to make additional edits & submit an updated version without penalty.  We will be going through our email archives & contacting contestants individually to update you with this information.

Any questions can be directed to:  info@mizumomusic.com.

Mizumo Music announces Remix Contest 02!

January 27th, 2012

(The details on this page has been updated on April 11, 2012.  Please re-read this page carefully)!

Greetings all!

We are pleased to announce our second annual Remix Contest! In the tradition of going back to our roots, the song to be remixed this year is Groove Man‘s “Make Me Feel So Good” which was originally released on vinyl (yes, vinyl!) in 2006.  Please note the details below.

3.  Hit the studio, get creative, and have your remixed finished & submitted by the Deadline:

June 1, 2012 at 11:00 PM (Pacific Time).

How to Submit Your Contest Entry

1.  Master your remix to the best of your ability.  If your entry wins, we will request a 24-bit wav or aiff premaster, so don’t worry if you don’t have a professional master for the Contest.

2.  Convert your file format to 320kbps mp3.

3.  Upload your remix to a file sharing service (like Sendspace, Yousendit, Mediafire, etc).

4.  E-mail the link to info@mizumomusic.com before the deadline.

Winners

We will choose up to 3 entries for a digital release on Beatport, iTunes, Junodownload, and all our other digital retail affiliates.  The chosen remix(es) will be those that are most suitable to our label, so please be sure to review our backcatalog and ensure your style fits our style.  Last year, we chose one broken-beat song, one tech-house song, and one electro-house song.

Winners will be announced on this website and on our Facebook page on June 15, 2012.  The EP will be released in Summer 2012, exact date TBA.

Winners will also receive continued support from the label, additional remix opportunities, promos, T-shirts & stickers, and the satisfaction of being a part of the Mizumo family!

A Final Note…

Please do not get discouraged if your remix does not get chosen.  We take note of your effort & have reached out to several artists that participated in Remix Contest 01 that did not officially win the contest.  So even though your entry may not be chosen, there is still a chance that we will contact you for other projects in the future.

Last year’s results:  http://www.mizumomusic.com/2011/03/remix-contest-01-drc-dj-denise-get-off-ur/

Last year’s release:  http://www.beatport.com/release/get-off-ur-remix-contest-01-winners/348439

… Actually, one more note!

Last year when we were reviewing contest entries, one major factor that eliminated an entry right off the bat was if the bassline was the exact same as the original mix.  So get creative, chop up those samples, add your own original synths and riffs, and make the song your own!
